Negeri Sembilan Unveils New Administration Focused on Stability, Progress and Prosperity

Market Impact

KUALA LUMPUR — Negeri Sembilan’s new state administration will prioritise stability, progress and prosperity as its core pillars to ensure development benefits the people, Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said.

Stability, he said, extends beyond political majority to include the constitutional monarchy and adat (customary) institutions that underpin the state. A professional administration and policies that instil confidence among citizens, investors and businesses are equally critical, he added.

Speaking at the Negeri Sembilan Civil Servants Assembly and launch of the Negeri Sembilan 2026 National Flag Raising Ceremony in Seremban today, Ismail emphasised that progress should not be measured solely by growth figures. Instead, it should focus on creating opportunities, attracting quality investments, generating high-value jobs and developing competitive human capital.

Development must be inclusive, ensuring benefits reach all districts, not just urban centres, he said. Prosperity should be felt across society through initiatives that improve daily lives, such as wider economic opportunities, efficient government services and stronger public confidence in the state’s future.

Ismail outlined plans to support these goals through economic development, public well-being, education, human capital, agriculture, rural development, housing, environmental sustainability, tourism, religion, adat and heritage, sports, unity and service delivery. All initiatives will be translated into measurable programmes, policies and projects, he said.

The administration will be supported by the state executive council, with efforts aimed at making Negeri Sembilan more competitive in investment, creating youth opportunities, strengthening agriculture and rural economies, improving housing and living environments, and preserving adat, culture and heritage as core identities.

Development will be balanced to ensure rural villages, Felda settlements and local communities progress alongside major urban areas, Ismail added.

Details not yet available on specific timelines or funding allocations for the outlined initiatives.
