The Jakarta Composite Index gained 26 points, or 0.41%, to 6,366 at the bell. In the first five minutes of trading, the benchmark moved between 6,360 and 6,394.
Turnover reached 3.6 billion shares worth Rp1.5 trillion ($83.77 million) across 253,000 transactions. Advancers outnumbered decliners 310 to 170, with 216 issues unchanged.
Traders expect Bank Indonesia to raise its benchmark BI Rate by 25 basis points to 6% on Thursday, according to consensus forecasts cited by Phintraco Sekuritas. The brokerage also noted that June bank lending data, due later on Wednesday, is seen slowing to 9% from 11.51% in May.
Phintraco Sekuritas said the Finance Ministry and the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) have prepared a package of fiscal and market measures to bolster stability through the second half of 2026.
The package includes optimising government fund placements in commercial banks to support domestic banking liquidity, transport discounts and import incentives to cut operating costs for manufacturers and trading companies, and plans to stabilise fuel and essential food prices to protect household purchasing power.
In funding diversification, the Finance Ministry will issue $1 billion in yuan-denominated Panda Bonds on July 23, Phintraco Sekuritas noted. The bonds carry a AAA/Stable rating from Lianhe Credit Rating.
“The move reflects the government’s effort to diversify its sources of financing,” the brokerage said.
The newly enacted International Financial Center (PFII) law should further bolster foreign capital inflows, Phintraco Sekuritas said.
“The approval of this law is expected to open new financing sources for the government while attracting capital inflows,” the brokerage said.
Regional markets were mixed by 9:13 a.m. Jakarta time. Japan’s Nikkei gained 1.93%, South Korea’s Kospi surged 5.97%, Shanghai’s SSE Composite added 0.34%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.55%.
Overnight on Wall Street, technology shares powered gains. The S&P 500 climbed 0.9%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 385 points, or 0.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.3%.
