Go has spearheaded the creation of a data-sharing system through an agreement among key government agencies to improve the accuracy and completeness of the country’s foreign direct investment (FDI) data, supporting evidence-based policies that will further enhance the Philippines’ investment climate.

Market Impact

Today, Secretary Frederick Go witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), which establishes a framework for secure data sharing among the agencies to produce more comprehensive and internationally aligned FDI statistics.

The agreement was signed between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

“Finance Secretary Frederick Go, the brains of this undertaking, months ago, called us agencies to work together to identify areas for improvement in the compilation of foreign direct investment statistics and to address existing gaps aimed at strengthening the reporting mechanism necessary for evidence-based decision making,” PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa said in his remarks.

Under the agreement, the SEC will provide relevant corporate registration records to the PSA and BSP through its existing digital platforms, including the SEC Swift Corporate and Other Records Exchange (SCORE) Protocol and the SEC API Marketplace, allowing the secure exchange of investment-related data.

“I thank Secretary of Finance Frederick Go—who is not only the brain, but the creator of the project we’re celebrating today through the signing of this Memorandum of Agreement,” SEC Chairperson Francisco Ed Lim said.

The PSA will serve as the central repository of FDI data, while the BSP will continue to compile and publish the country’s official FDI statistics.

Furthermore, the enhanced data-sharing system is expected to improve the quality, completeness, and timeliness of FDI statistics in the country by integrating enterprise-level information with existing reporting mechanisms.

The initiative incorporates robust safeguards to protect confidential information consistent with the Data Privacy Act.

The enhanced collaboration supports the Marcos, Jr. administration’s broader agenda of fostering a more competitive and investment-friendly economy by improving the quality and flow of economic data to guide policy decisions.
