Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has announced that it is open to forming a coalition to create a stable state government in Melaka ahead of the upcoming state election, said its Secretary‑General Muhammad Faiz Fadzil on Tuesday.

Market Impact

The party said that its decision on whether to contest the election alone or with partners will be finalised soon, with the outcome to be confirmed by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council.

Faiz said that while PH could still run solo, Amanah prefers to collaborate with allies who share the same goal of establishing a stable Melaka government. He added that the party has already contacted several other parties and still has time to choose the most suitable partner.

The decision on the form of cooperation will be made by the PH Presidential Council, the Secretary‑General said after a session with the chair of the Local Government and Housing and Local Infrastructure Committee (LKIM) and fishermen from the Telok Mas area at the Tanjong Nibong fishing village.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 21 of the 28 contested seats, while Pakatan Harapan secured five seats and Perikatan Nasional two seats. The 2026 election will determine whether Amanah can secure enough support to form a governing coalition.

The move comes as Melaka’s political landscape remains fluid, with parties still negotiating alliances. Amanah’s willingness to partner with like‑minded parties signals a potential shift in the state’s coalition dynamics, and the outcome of these negotiations will shape the composition of the next Melaka state government.
