Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang auctioned his walking stick for RM16,500 at a PAS Melaka charity dinner in Ayer Keroh last night.

Market Impact

The RM16,500 price was more than double the RM8,000 guide price set by the party. Bidding opened at the venue and continued via live stream on the PAS Negeri Melaka Facebook page, with the winning bid placed by Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarruddin.

Muhamad Muqharabbin, who now goes by Qobin after leaving UMNO Youth in 2023 and joining Bersatu before switching to PAS in June, received the cane directly from Abdul Hadi at the event.

Abdul Hadi said central PAS leaders had started coalition talks with Barisan Nasional three days earlier ahead of the Melaka state polls. “Preparations at the party level are already under way,” he told reporters. “We have started negotiations, but we don’t know when the election will be called.”

The PAS Melaka fundraiser drew political donors and activists to a hotel ballroom, where the auction followed a dinner themed “Strengthening the Ummah Through Unity.” Party officials said proceeds would support PAS programmes in the state.
