Astro launched a 30th-anniversary campaign on Thursday, giving all pay-TV customers free access to every channel through mid-September and adding two special channels, free streaming via Astro X3 on smart TVs and extra free-to-air options for NJOI users.

Market Impact

The package runs from Aug 15 to Sept 16 and includes two new channels: Astro 30 (Channel 100) until Oct 31, and Aniplus (Channel 120) until Dec 31, according to a company statement. Astro 30 will show eight Spider-Man films, regional blockbusters and a reunion special for Senario, while Aniplus will carry new and popular anime titles.

Henry Tan, group chief executive of Astro Holdings Sdn Bhd, said the initiative thanked Malaysian customers for three decades of support. “Today, we are Malaysia’s number-one content creator—a position realised only through your trust, our team’s commitment and the diversity of our partners and talent,” he said in the statement.

All Astro subscribers will receive free access to every channel during the campaign window. Astro X3, which streams via the Astro app without a set-top box, is now available on all smart TV devices. NJOI users gain four additional free-to-air channels from Aug 13: Astro Prima (105), Astro Oasis (106), Astro AEC (306) and Stadium Astro (802), lifting their free-to-air total to 26 channels.

The anniversary also features a national roadshow called KITA FM 2026: Satu Nama, Satu Suara that unites 13 Astro Audio brands for live broadcasts and interactive sessions. The tour starts at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 31 for Merdeka Day and ends in Kuching on Sept 16, where it will attempt a Malaysia Book of Records 63-kilometre run alongside a multilingual theme song titled “KITA.”

Entertainment highlights include the MY FM Big Show at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting, on Oct 17, featuring local and international acts. Customers will receive discounts and complimentary tickets to concerts such as ALPHA First Wave, Gegar Vaganza and the KITA Countdown, plus priority access to Home of Kids meet-and-greets and marquee sports events like the Sepak Takraw League and Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

The flagship showcase on Aug 23 at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s main entrance will feature headliners Faizal Tahir, Sherry Al Hadad and Stacy Anam, alongside new talent including ALPHA, Vanessa Reynauld and Zeppo Youngsterz. Meet-and-greet sessions will include cast members from Talk To My Manager 2, Big Stage Rocketfuel winners and stars from Chinese and Tamil dramas such as Wolong: The Mastermind, Visham and Mounam Pesiyadhe.

A prequel to Project: High Council – Kudrat and the rally-inspired film Terbang will also be previewed. Selected customers will have access to a VIP Rock Zone for closer encounters with performers.

The campaign runs through December and, according to Astro, underscores its ongoing commitment to Malaysian stories, new talent and unifying experiences.
