Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) secured RM120 million in international grants over the past year, more than doubling the RM55 million it raised in the prior 12-month period, according to its Silver Jubilee newsletter. The institution said the funds will support research ranging from mangrove restoration to microplastics analysis.

UMT’s grants are diversified across 32 projects, up from 18 in the previous year, it added. The university said 70% of the money will support work with coastal communities, including fish farmers in Terengganu, Pahang and Sabah. The remainder will fund laboratory and field research.
