Three foreign students aged 17 to 20 have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 53-year-old Malaysian man in Ipoh, police confirmed Wednesday.

Market Impact

Ipoh OCPD Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the victim was found injured in a public area on Friday, September 18, before dying from blunt-force trauma to the head on September 22. The three suspects, enrolled at a private higher education institution, were detained at their shared accommodation Wednesday morning, police said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment. Police have not yet disclosed the relationship between the victim and suspects, nor the motive for the killing.

The victim was taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) after being found, where he remained in treatment for several days before his death at 6:42 p.m. on September 22. Police urged anyone with information to contact Ipoh district headquarters at 05-245 1500.
