Central Global Bhd has lodged plans for a RM500 million Islamic medium-term notes programme under the Mudharabah principle with the Securities Commission Malaysia, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing dated October 2.

Market Impact

The programme carries a tenure of up to 99 years from the date of first issuance, with the inaugural tranche expected within 90 business days of the lodgement.

Proceeds are earmarked for Shariah-compliant purposes including acquisitions, capital expenditure, general corporate needs and working capital, the company said. The funds may also refinance or repay existing Islamic financing facilities and conventional borrowings, as well as cover programme-related fees and expenses.

Each sukuk issuance may be rated, unrated or a combination of both, depending on the company's decision before the relevant tranche is issued.

Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd has been appointed principal adviser, lead arranger, lead manager, facility agent and Shariah adviser for the programme.

Central Global did not disclose the expected profit rate or the specific assets that will underlie the Mudharabah structure in the filing. The company also did not indicate whether the programme will be issued in a single tranche or multiple series.

The Securities Commission will review the submission before the first issuance can proceed.
