KUALA LUMPUR, 31 AUGUST 2026 —
The Ministry of Digital has announced that eligible Malaysians aged 18 to 30 can claim a three‑month subscription to ILMUchat Pro at no cost under the AI Untuk Rakyat programme.
Market Impact
The offer, which begins on 31 August 2026 to coincide with Malaysia’s Independence Day, values the subscription at RM150—RM50 per month for three months—providing unlimited usage during the free period.
The initiative, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in July at the AI Malaysia event in Cyberjaya, is part of the National AI Action Plan 2026‑2030. It targets 100,000 young Malaysians, aligning with the Prime Minister’s pledge to accelerate the country’s AI capabilities. Participants must complete the required AI training modules on the Rakyat Digital platform, after which they can select ILMUchat Pro from their dashboard.
They will then be redirected to ILMUchat, where a MyDigital ID login verifies eligibility and activates the free subscription.
ILMUchat Pro, developed by YTL AI Labs in partnership with MyDIGITAL Corporation, is an AI assistant designed for Malaysian languages and contexts. According to YTL AI Labs, it supports natural switching between Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Manglish. The tool can draft emails and letters, search for local services and businesses, create posters and graphics, generate presentation slides, and build working app prototypes without coding.
It also offers locally relevant functions such as querying PTPTN repayment schedules, applying for SME grants and assisting with job applications.
“By giving young Malaysians access to ILMUchat Pro through the AI Untuk Rakyat programme, we are not only enabling them to use AI but also empowering them to become the builders and contributors who will shape Malaysia’s AI future,” said Foong Chee Mun, CEO of YTL AI Labs. “We’re proud to support the Malaysian Government in advancing Malaysia’s ambition to be a leading AI nation.”
The programme is delivered through a collaboration between the Ministry of Digital, YTL AI Labs and MyDIGITAL Corporation via the Rakyat Digital platform. While the offer is free for the first three months, users will retain access to ILMUchat Pro thereafter at the standard RM50 monthly fee, subject to the terms and conditions set by YTL AI Labs.
The initiative is expected to boost digital literacy among young Malaysians and stimulate demand for AI‑enabled services across the country.
