Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd launched NuMee Keluarga, a 900g family pack of non-pasteurised yellow noodles priced at RM2.50 per packet.

Market Impact

The new line targets households of six to nine adults, offering a larger, more economical format than the 350g NuMee launched in May 2019. Marketing manager Ena Suhaila Abas said the product responds to pandemic-driven demand for affordable staples without sacrificing quality.

“Mothers are more discerning and want a better-quality product that remains affordable,” she said. NuMee Keluarga uses high-quality ingredients with no added colouring and a chewier texture, positioning it for B40 families.

Gardenia said it reinforces family bonding by providing an easy meal option, whether as a main dish or a between-meal snack. The launch coincided with a corporate social responsibility drive. On March 5 Gardenia began handing out NuMee Keluarga at Pusat Transit Gelandangan Kuala Lumpur and the Desa Rejang flats under the #NuMeeCares campaign, targeting rough sleepers and B40 residents affected by Covid-19.

Gardenia is also partnering TukTuk Catering to sell six signature dishes—NuMee OMG (fried noodles), NuMee Rebus, NuMee Rojak Mee, NuMee Curry Mee, NuMee Mee Mamak and NuMee Jawa—via online channels including Foodpanda and Tedboy. The six-month collaboration includes contests for free deliveries.

NuMee Keluarga goes on sale at selected supermarkets and grocery stores across Peninsular Malaysia. The product is available at RM2.50 per packet. More information is available at www.numeegardenia.com.my or on Facebook (@numeegardeniaofficial) and Instagram (@numeegardenia_official).
