A durian seller in his 30s was abducted from in front of a car workshop in Ampang last Thursday and later found dead, his body buried in Semenyih, Kajang, according to a workshop owner and police sources.

Market Impact

The workshop owner, who declined to be named, said he witnessed the kidnapping on closed-circuit television footage at about 4am on Thursday. He had met the victim an hour earlier when the man brought his vehicle in for repairs. "I went home after that. On Thursday morning, the victim's wife and brother contacted me saying he had not returned home. I went to the workshop to check the CCTV," he told Sinar Harian on Wednesday.

The footage showed a group of individuals forcing the victim into a Honda car. The workshop owner advised the family to lodge a police report. On Monday, the victim's wife informed him the man had died, allegedly murdered. The workshop owner met the family at Hospital Serdang that day and handed the CCTV recording to police.

A male body discovered buried in a Semenyih location on Sunday is believed to be the victim. Sinar Harian is awaiting confirmation from the Kajang and Ampang district police headquarters.

Police have detained several individuals suspected of involvement and are tracking the main suspect, according to information received by the paper. Investigations are ongoing.
