KUALA LUMPUR — Bursa Malaysia’s FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose 12.07 points to 1,713.09 on bargain-hunting in banking and plantation heavyweights after the index’s recent pullback.
Market Impact
The benchmark opened 2.63 points firmer at 1,703.65 and traded between 1,702.35 and 1,718.31 during the session.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said regional markets finished broadly higher as Brent crude oil prices slid 7.93 per cent to US$89.22 a barrel, easing inflation and supply disruption fears.
“The retreat in oil prices helped investors rotate back into risk assets,” he told Bernama.
Thong maintained a cautious near-term outlook, noting that investors will likely remain selective ahead of US second-quarter 2026 gross domestic product data, June 2026 PCE inflation figures and the Federal Reserve’s next policy decision, all due by July 30.
“We expect the FBM KLCI to stay range-bound between 1,700 and 1,730 this week, with volatility likely to persist as geopolitical developments continue to sway market mood,” he said.
