IJM Posts 44% Jump in 1Q Profit on Construction Boom, Declares 10 Sen Special Dividend

Market Impact

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 26): IJM Corporation Bhd (KL:IJM) reported a 43.7% surge in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by stronger construction activities, as the group declared a 10 sen per share special dividend.

Net profit rose to RM137.4 million from RM95.6 million in the same period last year, while earnings per share increased to 3.92 sen from 2.73 sen. Revenue climbed 32.2% to RM2.29 billion from RM1.73 billion, supported by growth across its construction, manufacturing and quarrying, and property development divisions.

The construction division saw revenue jump 36.2% year-on-year, with pre-tax profit more than doubling to RM73.3 million from RM34.6 million, attributed to higher construction activities and a larger order book. The manufacturing and quarrying division recorded a 42.3% revenue increase, while pre-tax profit rose 13.7%, driven by higher deliveries of piles and ready-mixed concrete.

IJM expects its construction division to remain robust for the rest of the financial year, supported by a RM14.5 billion order book spanning hyperscale data centres, advanced manufacturing facilities, warehousing projects, and road infrastructure. The industry division is also projected to perform well, backed by strong demand for data centres, industrial buildings, and infrastructure projects.

The group’s mature toll concessions are expected to provide steady revenue, while the New Pantai Expressway 2 project is anticipated to enhance long-term earnings visibility. However, IJM remains cautious about its property division due to a softening market, weaker consumer sentiment, and global uncertainties, though performance is expected to improve with RM2.2 billion in unbilled property and land sales.

The special dividend of 10 sen per share will be paid on Oct 15. IJM’s shares are listed on Bursa Malaysia under the construction and infrastructure sector.
