KUALA LUMPUR, 6 AUGUST 2026 —
CoreWeave Inc will build three AI-focused data centres in Indonesia with 360MW of contracted IT load, the first facilities it has commissioned in Asia Pacific.
Market Impact
The US-listed AI cloud provider said the sites will go live in 2028 and run under CoreWeave’s ownership and operation model. The combined capacity will support AI laboratories, startups and enterprises across Southeast Asia.
The expansion marks CoreWeave’s entry into the region after operating 49 data centres globally as of 31 March 2026, supported by more than 1GW of active power and over 3.5GW of contracted AI workload capacity.
CoreWeave chief operating officer Sachin Jain said the move targets “AI pioneers” needing “capacity, performance and reliability” as Indonesia grows its AI talent pipeline and digital infrastructure. The facilities will also help customers meet local data-residency rules while cutting latency.
Indonesia’s push to expand domestic AI capability and digital infrastructure aligns with CoreWeave’s push into new markets, the company said. It added it would hire and train local staff to operate the sites, boosting the country’s technical workforce.
The new Indonesian capacity will improve access for Southeast Asian users of high-performance computing used in generative AI, customer analytics and personalisation tools, CoreWeave said.
