Samsung Malaysia Raises Prices for Galaxy A37 and A57 5G, but Cuts One Variant

Market Impact

Samsung Malaysia will increase the prices of selected Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G variants, effective Sept. 7, 2026, following a similar adjustment for the Galaxy A07 and A17 models last month. The latest price revision reflects ongoing global component cost pressures, particularly for memory chips and RAM, the company said.

The price adjustments vary across models. Two Galaxy A37 5G and A57 5G variants will see a RM200 increase, while the entry-level Galaxy A57 5G will be discounted by RM220. For the Galaxy A57 5G, the 12GB+512GB version now costs RM500 more than the 12GB+256GB model, whereas the 8GB+256GB version is RM300 cheaper than the 12GB+256GB option.

In the Galaxy A37 5G lineup, the 12GB+256GB variant now carries a RM300 premium over the 8GB+256GB model, up from a previous RM100 difference.

Samsung Malaysia attributed the price changes to sustained industry-wide cost pressures, despite efforts to absorb some of the increases. The company emphasized its commitment to balancing innovation and value, highlighting the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G’s performance, durability, AI features, and long-term software and security support.

This marks the second price adjustment for Samsung’s Galaxy A series in Malaysia within two months. In July, selected Galaxy A07 and A17 variants saw price hikes ranging from RM120 to RM200. The Galaxy A07 LTE 8GB+256GB rose from RM899 to RM1,049, while the Galaxy A07 5G 8GB+256GB increased from RM1,029 to RM1,149. The Galaxy A17 LTE 8GB+256GB jumped from RM949 to RM1,149, and the Galaxy A17 5G 8GB+256GB went from RM1,149 to RM1,299.

Industry analysts note that rising memory costs are driving up prices across the tech sector, affecting smartphones, tablets, and computers. Some manufacturers have responded by reducing specifications, such as offering less RAM or storage compared to previous models, to manage costs.

The adjustments come amid broader inflationary pressures in the global electronics supply chain, which have forced many brands to reassess pricing strategies.
