KUALA LUMPUR, 12 OCTOBER 2026 —
Malaysia’s Hafiz Ramli, a former barber and motorcycle foreman, has launched his radio career as a presenter on Best FM after winning the station’s The Next Bestcham Baru Best (BBB) talent search in 2026.
Market Impact
The announcement highlights Hafiz’s unconventional path to broadcasting, following roles as a hairstylist (with a Sijil Kemahiran in the field), motorcycle accessories foreman, and car salesman before joining Best FM. His journey underscores the growing trend of cross-industry career pivots in Malaysia’s media sector, where experience outside traditional journalism is increasingly valued.
Hafiz’s rise to radio fame was framed in a lighthearted post by Best FM, which described his dynamic friendship with a colleague named Ayuni—highlighting both their close collaboration and occasional disagreements. The post read: “Hi there, meet my Best Friend Ayuni! Just like any friend, we have our daily catch-ups, arguments, and even times when we don’t talk for days. But Ayuni is the one I confide in, seek advice from, and vice versa.
One day, we might have misunderstood each other a bit, and we blocked each other. But Ayuni called after a few days and said, ‘How long are you going to be mad?’ We all need friends like that—no need to figure out who’s right or wrong. Sometimes, one of us just needs to be the water to calm things down.”
The post also confirmed Hafiz’s participation in Best FM’s BBB competition, a platform designed to uncover fresh talent beyond conventional media backgrounds. His appointment reflects broader industry shifts, where stations like Best FM prioritize authenticity and relatability over traditional credentials.
