KUALA LUMPUR, 30 JULY 2026 —
AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd posted a 20.5% rise in net profit to RM93.43 million in the first quarter of its financial year ending Feb 28 2027.
Market Impact
Revenue rose 7.9% to RM647.57 million against RM599.92 million a year earlier, while profit before tax climbed 20% to RM130.88 million versus RM109.03 million in the same period last year, according to the filing.
The group attributed the gains to higher transaction and financing volumes and a lower operating expense ratio. Gross financing receivables expanded 9.8% year-on-year to RM16.07 billion as at May 31 2026, an increase of RM1.44 billion. Transaction and financing volume rose 4.6% to RM2.35 billion.
Finance costs increased alongside receivables growth, and AEON Credit’s share of losses at associate AEON Bank (M) Bhd widened to RM17.69 million from RM15.92 million a year earlier. The non-performing loan ratio edged up to 2.60% from 2.57%, while the loan loss coverage ratio fell to 195% from 217%.
Other income totalled RM55.19 million, mainly from RM51.79 million in bad-debt recoveries. The group’s operating expense ratio improved to 63.0% from 68.5% in the prior-year quarter.
AEON Credit said it would maintain prudent credit risk management as it targets growth in quality financing assets. The group also highlighted higher global oil prices and Middle East geopolitical tensions as external risks to monitor.
Against a backdrop of 5.4% GDP growth in Malaysia for the first quarter of 2026, AEON Credit said it expects to sustain momentum through FY27, barring unforeseen events. The group’s strategic priorities for the year include expanding the credit card and payment business via product innovation, driving digitalisation and AI adoption, and building a data and AI centre of excellence.
AEON Credit will deepen platform integration across the AEON ecosystem, including AEON Wallet, AEON Insurance Brokers (M) Sdn Bhd, AEON Bank and AEON360 Sdn Bhd. Operational efficiency efforts will focus on AI-enabled collections and higher auto-approvals through AEON FinPlus, while leadership development remains a key focus.
