Both desktop lines have been out of stock for weeks or months at Apple and major retailers, reflecting strong pent-up demand for the refreshed models.

The announcement comes ahead of a leadership transition: chief executive Tim Cook, who described the earlier memory shortage as “a 100-year flood,” will hand the reins to John Ternus on Sept 1. Apple plans to unveil its next iPhones, including its first foldable handset, around Sept 9, and roll out updated HomePod mini and smart-home displays that highlight AI-driven Siri improvements.

Both the Mac mini and Mac Studio ship with macOS 27 Golden Gate, slated for wider release this fall.
