JomCharge switched on two new street-level EV chargers in Cheras on Saturday, adding an 11 kW AC unit and a 100 kW DC unit at Cheras Q House opposite Arte Cheras.

Market Impact

The Charge Point Operator and DBKL deployed the chargers across three slanted bays, with the DC unit capped at 50 kW per nozzle. AC charging is priced at RM1.10 per kWh, compared to the typical range of RM0.90 to RM1.20 per kWh at other JomCharge locations, and DC at RM1.40 per kWh, which is in line with industry standards, according to JomCharge’s published rates.

For two days only—25–26 July 2026—JomCharge is cutting those prices in half. DC charging drops to RM0.70 per kWh, a 50% discount from the usual rate, and the discount applies on top of any JomCharge Elite or JomCharge Platinum membership savings, the company said.

The new location sits beside a busy retail cluster, giving drivers a high-throughput option between the MRT and the Cheras-Kajang highway. DBKL’s involvement marks the latest step in the city hall’s push to expand kerbside charging beyond malls and offices, though no city-wide rollout schedule has been released, according to the city hall's previous statements.
