Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia launched the country’s first automatic-transmission Triton Single Cab at RM107,988 on the road before insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia.

The new model pairs the existing 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, rated at 184PS and 430Nm, with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, according to Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia. “The automatic transmission reduces driver fatigue without lowering the daily payload,” Sakamaki said. The single-cab body retains a cargo bed 2,340 mm long, 1,580 mm wide and 515 mm high that can carry up to 1,145 kg. A rear differential lock, all-terrain tyres and a standard bedliner are standard, along with a reversing sensor for tight delivery zones.

Buyers receive a RM4,000 Diesel Support voucher for a limited period and a five-year or 200,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. The model will make its public debut at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026, running from 28 August to 6 September at MAEPS Serdang.

Industry observers say the automatic option broadens Triton’s appeal to commercial buyers who previously avoided manual transmissions for high-mileage duties.
