Public Service director general Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz has been appointed chairman of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), effective Aug 13.

Market Impact

MRT Corp said in a statement on Tuesday the appointment coincides with a critical phase in delivering its rail and urban development mandate. The state-linked company is advancing major projects including the Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link and the Penang LRT Mutiara Line, while expanding its transit-oriented development and commercial revenue streams.

MRT Corp chief executive Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said Wan Ahmad Dahlan’s public-sector experience would strengthen project delivery and urban mobility strategy. “His institutional leadership and policy expertise will help us meet our national infrastructure goals and catalyse sustainable city growth,” Zarif said.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan has led the Public Service since January 2024 after a 30-year career in government. His roles have included director general of the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department, secretary general of the Home Ministry, and Comptroller of the Royal Household at Istana Negara. He joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1995 and has served across multiple ministries.

He also chairs the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia and the Razak School of Government, and sits on the boards of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, the Employees Provident Fund and the Inland Revenue Board.
