Mohamad Hijazi Zamri, 26, was found wandering in Alor Setar, Kedah, at about 10 p.m. last night, three days after he vanished from George Town.

His father, Zamri Saidin, 53, said he received a call from an acquaintance who spotted Mr Hijazi in the city centre, weak from exhaustion and hunger. Friends who located him then phoned Mr Zamri, who spoke briefly with his son.

“His voice was weak, probably from tiredness, fatigue and hunger after going without food for two or three days,” Mr Zamri said. He added that he could not yet confirm whether his son had any injuries.

Police have been notified and are transporting Mr Hijazi to a nearby station for further checks. Mr Zamri’s younger son told him minutes ago that his brother had boarded a police vehicle.

Mr Zamri thanked everyone who helped search for his son and offered prayers for his safe return. “I am grateful to all who prayed for him. In the end, God answered those prayers and he is back with us,” he said.

Mr Hijazi vanished shortly after evening prayers at Surau Al-Muttaqin in Sungai Ara here last Saturday. He left on a blue Yamaha LC motorcycle, wearing a long-sleeved black-and-orange T-shirt and black track pants.
