Vibe Mobile launched its first prepaid plans in Malaysia on Monday, starting at RM17 a month and running on U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network.

Market Impact

The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) said it will combine mobile connectivity with rewards, lifestyle privileges and digital features aimed at digitally connected consumers.

U Mobile said its ULTRA5G network already covers more than 85% of Malaysia’s population. The MVNO will sell daily, weekly and yearly plans as well as 30-day packages.

Prepaid packs range from RM17 to RM47, with data split between mobile and hotspot use below RM40. A RM17 plan delivers 5GB of data and unlimited voice calls, while a RM47 plan offers 30GB.

Vibe Mobile also sells 10GB and 30GB data boosters for RM10 and RM30. All plans are subject to its fair usage policy and network availability.

Daily, weekly and yearly options are available. A RM3 daily pack gives 3GB, a RM10 weekly pack gives 15GB and a RM150 yearly pack gives 10GB with 60 minutes of calls a month.

Customers can carry forward up to 100GB of unused data to the next month if they enable auto-renewal on monthly plans. Unused data can also be converted to loyalty points at 1GB to 1 point, capped at 100GB.

A starter pack costs RM5 and includes 1GB of data for five days and 100 reward points. Calls without minutes cost 30 sen per minute and SMS is 15 sen each.

The MVNO said postpaid plans will be added later.
