Regionally, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.68% to 25,685.40, Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.69% to 66,309.72 and South Korea’s KOSPI Composite Index advanced 1.84% to 6,867.05. Singapore’s Straits Times Index fell 0.11% to 5,729.64.

Among heavyweights, Maybank added two sen to RM10.58, Public Bank rose four sen to RM5.14 and CIMB Group gained 10 sen to RM8.06. Tenaga Nasional dropped 12 sen to RM14.42 and IHH Healthcare added five sen to RM8.20.

Turnover leaders included NationGate, up 25 sen at RM1.74, Zetrix AI up 1.5 sen at 67 sen, VS Industry up half a sen at 22.5 sen, Ni Hsin up one sen at 15.5 sen and YTL Corporation up 14 sen at RM2.56.

Top gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries, up RM1.16 to RM42.66, YTL Power International up 41 sen to RM5.78 and Kelington up 39 sen to RM8.75. Top losers were Batu Kawan down 38 sen to RM20.62, Dutch Lady Milk Industries down 28 sen to RM31.72 and Hong Leong Bank down 12 sen to RM22.84.

The FBM ACE Index climbed 40.01 points to 5,338.59, the FBM 70 Index rose 205.00 points to 18,274.24 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 98.52 points to 12,727.88. The FBM Emas Index added 107.21 points to 12,925.81 and the FBM Top 100 Index rose 101.94 points to 12,737.73.

By sector, the Financial Services Index jumped 79.00 points to 20,349.42 while the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.89 points to 187.95. The Plantation Index fell 12.47 points to 9,497.95 and the Energy Index slipped 2.22 points to 775.22.
